This position is responsible for communicating Parks and Recreation services, programs and events through social media, electronic media, printed media, and other communication tools.
Assists with website, broadcast, and other audio/visual and video productions.
Develops and distributes multimedia communication through web, social media, print and other communication tools; and performs other related duties as assigned.
NOTE:
This position is full benefits eligible.

Develops, implements, and executes strategic marketing plans for Parks and Recreation to attract potential customers and retain existing ones.
Coordinates Parks and Recreation print and electronic publications to include designing, editing, printing, and distributing newsletters, recreation guides, advertisements, training manuals and other special publications.
Develops community relations strategies to provide the public with accurate information about current and upcoming programs and initiatives.
Conducts market research, gathers information, and seeks media opportunities.
Develops annual marketing campaign timetables.
Creates social media content, campaigns, and advertising, including all recreation and park offerings, class information, volunteer opportunities, event information, and awareness campaigns that build our brand in the community.
Provides customer service through social media.
Develops and monitors the department's marketing budgets with the aim of ensuring the department's financial stability.
Performs and manages graphic design development and maintenance.
Maintains department web content and online programs/activities (Activate) listings to ensure professional and consistent content in all materials and media outlets.
Collaborates with the Communications and Engagement Officer for brand alignment in the community.
Provides tabling and engagement at community events and other opportunities that are valuable to the department.
Works with Resource Development Coordinator to generate advertising revenue for department publications, website, signage, and other potential sales opportunities.
Acts as staff photographer for Parks and Recreation events, ceremonies, and other activities for use in all media formats and coordinates with professional photographers upon requests.
Establishes and develops collaborative relationships with foundations, private and non-profit groups, grant funding organizations, and other members of the community.
Maintains awareness of current and planned department projects and programs to plan appropriate communication to the community with the goal of evaluating and making recommendations of the effectiveness of communication tools utilizing analytics.
Schedules and tasks temporary graphic design staff.
Maintains multimedia design and technical quality by staying abreast of current equipment and technology, suggests equipment upgrades when required.
Assists with department wide recreation initiatives and special events.
Works with team members to ensure successful outcomes.
Plans and coordinates programs, presentations, and special events to inform and engage the community.
Represents the City of Albany by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
Regards everyone, internal and external, as a customer and deliver the best service possible in a respectful and patient manner.

Adheres to appropriate attire, grooming, and hygiene standards established for the position.
Operates a motor vehicle safely and legally.
Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
Supervision/Lead Work Exercised This is a non-supervisory position.
Lead work/coordination of work of others is not a typical function assigned to this position.
Incumbents in this position may provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements Education and
Experience:
A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, graphic design, communications, recreation, business, or a closely related field and two years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience in marketing, design, and public relations preferred.
Bilingual applicants (English/Spanish) preferred.
Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license.
The individual shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
marketing and promotions, successful communication strategies and best practices, design, campaign planning and administration; production methods for design products; social media platforms; web technologies including content management systems and responsive web design.
Skill in:
MS Office applications, Canva visual suite or similar graphic design program; presentation technologies; database and website management; and the ability to learn new technology.
Ability to:
communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; understand and carry out written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, other agencies, interest groups and the public; operate computers for data entry, demonstrate initiative and creativity; and to be accountable to achievement of desired objectives, develop, coordinate, and direct varied activities.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
