We opened our doors Oct 1st, 2018.
As Optometric Assistant, your job will include three major duties:
1.
Receptionist duties:
Greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, collecting copays and exam fees, selling and ordering contact lenses, scanning documents, maintaining organization of digital and paper administrative forms, verifying and confirming appointments.
Collecting and scanning patient signatures and documents.
2.
Clerical / Bookkeeping duties:
Verifying insurance eligibility for each patient prior to their appointment.
Pulling and locking in insurance prior-authorizations.
Maintaining financial reports and credit card receipts for each day.
Documenting insurance authorization numbers and member IDs appropriately in our Eye Cloud Pro system.
Understanding of medical and vision plan insurance benefits and able to explain to each patient.
Proper collection of copays, co-insurance, etc.
3.
Technician duties:
Assisting the optometrist in pre-testing, such as running equipment, taking a case history, entrance testing, etc.
Data entry.
Teach patients how to insert and remove contact lenses.
Training for the technician tasks is available.
Skills:
1.
Comfortable and efficient use of a computer.
2.
Good verbal skills and friendliness with patients.
3.
Good communication skills, both with the doctor and patients, and able to answer basic patient questions about eye exams or eye care.
Good telephone communication skills.
4.
Able to work independently and comfortably with our system, with good record keeping.
Able to take personal initiative to obtain information for the practice.
Example:
to call an insurance company to obtain confusing information about insurance eligibility; to call another medical practice to schedule a patient referral; to call a clinic to obtain health records as directed by a patient or the doctor; etc.
Past experience in health care, and/or past experience as a clerk or office administrator are preferred.
We are open Tuesdays through Saturdays 10am to 6pm.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
