We are a growing firm that provides high-quality, individualized representation to clients needing assistance in probate court and criminal defense (both retained and court appointed).
Position Discription:
You will be an integral part of our legal team, primarily assisting with probate of estates, gathering information and drafting petitions for Probate Court, including guardianships and conservatorships.
You will also support our criminals defense litigation team by calendaring meetings and court appearances, organizing electronic discovery, and communicating with professionals such as accountants, healthcare professionals, and private investigators.
Perform legal research and analyze complex legal documents Draft motions, petitions, letters and other legal documents related to probate matters and other cases Assist in the preparation of discovery requests and responses Manage the organization and filing of legal documents Monitor court deadlines and ensure timely filings Participate in client interviews and meetings when needed Maintain a working knowledge of relevant Oregon laws and regulations Handle administrative tasks such as filing, copying, scanning documents, and answering phones.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in the legal field involving Probate, Guardianships, Conservatorships.
Some experience in criminal defense a plus.
Knowledge of Oregon court rules and eFiling in Oregon circuit courts Oregon Notary or ability to become an Oregon Notary Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Clio legal software Must be highly detail-oriented and organized Must be comfortable with multi-tasking during fast-paced situations Ability to always maintain friendly and professional communication with clients and co-workers Ability to work in a self-motivated, efficient, and organized manner Ability to anticipate next steps and when to offer assistance to co-workers.
Responsibilities:
Assist with legal drafting, including preparing legal documents and correspondence Conduct research and gather relevant information for cases Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness Perform data entry tasks to update client information and case details File documents with the court system or other relevant agencies Assist attorneys with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and organizing meetings Conduct legal research using Westlaw or other legal databases Note:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
